Meet Your Therapist
Leigh Franks (MSc, BSc, MNCPS Acc.)

I offer counselling for adults who are feeling emotionally overloaded but quietly coping. You might feel stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, misunderstood or disconnected from yourself.
My experience working within mental health for over 20 years has given me a deep understanding of how people come to feel the way they do. I have yet to work with a client, whose behaviours and struggles don't make sense once we explore their story.
I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy and keep my client caseload intentionally small so I can stay present, focused and attuned to each person I work with. It’s important to me that the space feels steady, compassionate and genuinely personalised to you… somewhere you don’t have to explain everything perfectly or have it all figured out.
Each session lasts 50 minutes and is shaped around you and guided by your therapeutic goals. The work stays responsive to your needs, with regular reviews to ensure it remains helpful, focused and aligned with what matters to you.
I bring to this work a Level 3 and Level 5 Diploma in Counselling, a degree in Psychology, a Masters in Mental Health Clinical Research, a coaching qualification, an NIHR Advanced Leadership Award and accreditation with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
The process begins with a 20-minute, no obligation introductory call. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, get a sense of how I work and decide whether this feels like the right fit for you.

It all begins with a conversation...

What Can Therapy Help With?

Anxiety
Therapy can provide effective techniques to manage and alleviate anxiety. It can also help you regain control over your thoughts and emotions.
Anxiety at Talking Frankly Therapy is viewed holistically, which means we look at it from the perspective of client history, the mind and the body as all play important roles when contributing to the symptoms of anxiety.
Depression
Depression is a common mental health problem. So if you have it, you are not alone. Therapy can help relieve the symptoms of depression by exploring your feelings in a supportive and safe environment.

In therapy, depressive symptoms will be viewed holistically, as depression is often felt both in the body and the mind.
Grief/ Loss
You do not have to go through grief and bereavement alone!
Counselling offers a non judgemental space to listen and guide you through the emotional challenges experienced after losing a significant other. It is a safe space to allow you to process your thoughts and feeling surrounding your loss, at your own pace.
Stress/Burn out
Experience a safe and confidential space to start exploring the factors in your life that are causing you stress and burn out.
It is important to look at your experience as a whole and not just symptoms.

Together we can explore the pressures, expectations and patterns that may be leaving you feeling depleted. With increased awareness, you then have a choice about what you want to continue with and what you wish to change so that things are more manageable and aligned with who you.
Work related issues
You can't pour from an empty cup!

Counselling is a confidential space that offers help and support to professionals and leaders.
This can include supporting with feelings of isolation and loneliness in a role, suffering from imposter syndrome, anxiety around starting a new position/role/project.
Counselling is also a safe space to feel supported when experiencing personal life difficulties that begin to impact work life.
Self-Esteem
At times, the way you see yourself can be shaped by doubt, criticism or a sense of not quite being enough.
Counselling offers a space to explore where this has come from and how it shows up in your life. It can also help you develop a more steady and compassionate sense of who you are.
Trauma Recovery
The trauma-focused approach empowers you to move forward with resilience and strength. Bringing in tools and techniques to help you process and heal from past traumatic experiences.
The work is guided by the outcome you wish to achieve.
Well-being
Counselling can enhance your overall well-being and focuses on improving your mental and emotional wellbeing to help you lead a more fulfilling life.
